DBIB 110 Old Testament Survey

​

This course offers a historical survey of the Old Testament, introducing students to its text with an emphasis on the biblical narrative, literary genres, major historical periods, and theological themes. Special attention is given to the cultural background of the Old Testament, as well as to its theological and contextual perspectives. The course also explores the practical application of  key Old Testament themes for contemporary life and faith.
 

DBIB 120 New Testament Survey

This course provides an examination of the New Testament, focusing on the biblical text and its historical, social, economic, and religious background. Students will explore the context out of which Christianity emerged, with emphasis on the New Testament narrative, literary genres, major historical periods, and central theological themes. The course aims to deepen 
understanding of the New Testament's message within its original setting and its significance for Christian faith and practice.

DBIB 400 Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics)

This course is an introduction to the principles and methods of biblical interpretation, or hermeneutics. It examines key factors that influence interpretation, including presuppositions, grammar, literary forms, and historical and cultural context. Students will learn to apply basic interpretive tools to the various genres of biblical literature, gaining a foundational understanding of how to accurately and responsibly interpret Scripture.

DBIB 362 Life of Christ

This course offers a study of the teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the Gospels and early Christian literature. Emphasis is placed on the theological significance, historical context, and literary features of Jesus’ teachings, with attention to their relevance for early Christian communities and contemporary faith and practice.

DBIB 364 Life and Teachings of Paul

​

This course provides a study of the life and teachings of the Apostle Paul as recorded in the Book of Acts and the Epistles. Emphasis is placed on Paul’s theological contributions, missionary journeys, and leadership in the early church. Special attention is given to the beginnings and expansion of the Christian church within its historical and cultural context.

DBIB 374 Romans: Your Path to Victory

This course offers a foundational study of the major themes in Paul’s letter to the Romans, with detailed examination of key passages. Emphasis is placed on the doctrinal and exhortative sections of the text, exploring their theological significance and practical application to Christian faith and daily life.
